Milestone Achieved at Brevik CCS Project

The Brevik CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage) project recently surpassed one million working hours, marking a significant achievement as the project progresses on schedule.

Anders Petersen , Project Manager at Brevik CCS, praised the dedication of both colleagues and project partners:

“Reaching one million working hours at Brevik CCS with only two lost-time injuries (LTIs) is a remarkable testament to the commitment of our contractors, who prioritize safety every day, however two LTIs out of one million, is still two to many” said Petersen.

Our good HSE performance is a tribute to each and every person’s high dedication to safety. Personal protective equipment, experienced HSE supervisors and procedures cannot do it alone – health and safety is an integral and natural part of the work culture at Brevik CCS

“Our focus is not only on identifying safety issues but also recognizing and encouraging good performance. This open environment fosters safety discussions, ensuring that Brevik CCS is a workplace where everyone feels both physically and mentally safe. It’s essential that every team member feels motivated and secure when they come to work said Petersen.

Safety at the Core of Brevik CCS

The milestone was achieved through a strong emphasis on individual responsibility for safety, said Roy Lund, HMS Manager at Brevik CCS.

“Brevik CCS has now passed 1,000,000 hours, and that with a working environment that employees and contractors boast about. This is reflected in a good common HSE culture in the project. As the project moves forward, the safety culture remains a key focus, with employees and contractors continuing to uphold high safety standards.

Positive effects for the local community

The project has major positive effects in the local community through the frequent use of local companies and contractors.

“Beyond safety achievements, the Brevik CCS project has brought substantial benefits to the local community. The frequent use of local companies and contractors has generated positive economic effects in the region, supporting local businesses and creating jobs, Lund stated.
